If you are smart and committed, we invite you to be our partner in education
Are you in matric and great with numbers? Sasria is calling on all academically excellent young people who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in commerce, IT, business science or maths to apply for funding through the Sasria student financial assistance programme.
‘’We would like to encourage students to take this opportunity and apply for funding from Sasria, particularly those from disadvantaged communities with at least a B-grade average,” says Sasria’s Managing Director, Cedric Masondo.
Sasria allocates funds annually to help students with above-average academic records from disadvantaged communities.
“While funding is limited, Sasria will endeavour to accommodate students with exceptional performance records who apply on time for financial assistance,” says Masondo.
Sasria started the student financial assistance programme in 2014 and has to date helped around 100 students since inception. There are 60 students currently on the programme and 10 students who have successfully obtained their degrees. The bursary programme covers accommodation, tuition and meals, and provides a stipend for qualifying students during the period of their studies. Recipients are required to meet certain performance requirements throughout their studies in order to receive continuing support.
Masondo says education is one of many pillars through which Sasria participates in community development.
“Our social responsibility strategy covers education, skills development, teacher development, school infrastructure upgrades and humanitarian causes,” he says. “A large part of our activities in communities dovetail around human capital development and we are quite passionate about unleashing the potential in our people.
“Human capital is one of the most underutilised resource in our country – and indeed through much of the African continent. At Sasria, we would like to disrupt this state of affairs to the extent that our resources allow and play a role in building a knowledge-driven economy.”
Sasria’s CSI budget increased by 60 percent during the financial year ended March 2017.
Interested parties should download the application forms on www.sasria.co.za. Upon completion, applications can be emailed to email@example.com or posted to Sasria SOC Limited, CSI Department, P.O. Box 653367 Benmore 2010.
Closing date for applications is 30 November 2017.
